Cinematica Media’s Mexican comedy, EL CANDIDATO HONESTO starring Adrián Uribe, Mariana Seoane, and Teresa Ruiz is set to open in U.S. theaters on September 6th.
Directed by Luis Felipe Ybarra (Hermanos y Detectives, La Noche del Diabilito), El Candidato Honesto tells the story of a former idealistic leader turned corrupt politician who is cursed by his grandmother on her deathbed to only speak the truth.
The movie is based on the Roberto Santucci movie, O Candidato Honesto. The Mexican version was adapted by Charlie Huevo Barrientos and Pablo Emiliano de la Rosa and is a hysterical variation of Liar Liar set against the backdrop of today’s political climate.
