Atlanta-based artist and producer Andy Mineo released his second single and video, “Jackson Pollock,” from his upcoming EP, Happy Thoughts, out November 11 via Reach Records.
“Jackson Pollock” was conceived of and recorded in Mineo’s makeshift home set-up, after quarantine prevented him from returning to the studio. Mineo said:
I was trying my hand at some drum sounds and distortion, and it made me feel like I was splattering paint like Jackson Pollock did.
I started writing some raps, and it ended up feeling like an art piece.
Set to inventive, boundary-pushing beatmaking, Happy Thoughts, is the perfect salve for anyone struggling through the many challenges 2020 has brought us all. Produced by Andy himself, the record was inspired by a trip to Japan with his Miner League crew prior to the COVID shutdown, beams with positive affirmations and ruminations on the prismatic nature of life.
