Mighty Aphrodite Pictures’s “Guajolote” is about to add some A-list talent. Mexican Academy Award Winner Mayahuel Del Monte and Latino star Sandra Gutierrez have signed on to join the ensemble starring Nitzia Chama and Illean Almaguer on upcoming thriller “Guajolote” by Jorge Xolalpa Jr., who will also produce with Brenda Quinones. Val Valdez and Juan Pablo Ochoa will Executive Produce.
The story centets on Xochitl Cortes (Chama): a successful restaurant owner who is undocumented and lives in Los Angeles. One day on her way home from court, Xochitl and her six-year-old son are followed and cornered by ICE. Xochitl gets arrested and deported without an appeal. Del Monte will play Gloria, Xochitl’s mother who lives in Mexico. Gutierrez will play Immigration Agent Perez along with Almaguer who will play Nalley Cortes: Xochtil’s younger sister and DACA recipient who is left to care for her 6-year-old nephew, Mario.
The cast is joined by Aldalgiza Chermont and child-actor Marcos Gudiño, who will co-star.
Del Monte is known for her Mexican Academy Award winning performance in News From Afar, Trade, Get The Gringo. Gutierrez is known for FX Mayans M.C., Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Tales From The Hood 2 and upcoming digital series Destroyer on Amazon Prime.
