Disclosure give their summer anthem “She’s Gone, Dance On” a mood-shifting cool down in the form of “She’s Gone, Dance On (Live From The Mews).” The soulful, verging-on spiritual version was recorded live in the London studio The Mews, with Guy and Howard Lawrence holding down the rhythm section.
This is supported by an incredible band that includes — among other talented musicians — their dad Robin Lawrence on electric guitar.
With Guy on drums and Howard on bass, the siblings quickly establish a deep groove that’s enriched and embellished by pianist and solo artist Reuben James (Sam Smith, Stormzy, Herbie Hancock) with help from acoustic guitarist Robin Katz and the elder Lawrence, of course, who blesses the cut with a restrained solo. But the centerpiece is the vocal trio who take on the original song’s Ennio Morricone sample: Eliza Oakes (Elbow, Gregory Porter, Idrîsî Ensemble), MRCY vocalist Kojo, and Nigerian-Irish singer Laura Ehio.
