It’s official, Elektra is coming to season 2 of Netflix’s hit series, “Daredevil.”
Marvel made the announcement of Elektra joining the series and they announced that the iconic assassin will be played by G.I. Joe: Retaliation and District 13: Ultimatum star Elodie Yung!
Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb had this to say about casting Yung as Elektra:
After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.
Incase you’re not familiar with the iconic character, Elektra, here is some history for you:
Elektra Natchios was created by Frank Miller and her made her comic book debut in Daredevil #168. Marvel‘s announcement today describes the part as being that of “a mysterious woman from MattMurdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.”
Don’t worry, Elektra isn’t the only deadly character joining the Daredevil season two lineup. It was recently announced that “The Walking Dead” and Fury star Jon Bernthal will play Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, when the series returns in 2016.
