#ERocks – Interview with Lupita Infante

Saturday, September 7th marks the return of ¡Viva La Tradición! – Viva LA Mujer, an epic event that is both a tribute to women and a celebration of major anniversary milestones.

In anticipation of the event, we had the opportunity to talk to Mexican singer/songwriter Lupita Infante, the granddaughter of Pedro Infante, the “King of Rancheras.” We talked to her about what we can expect during her set, new music, following the legacy of her family, etc.

EROCKS: What can we expect from your set?

Lupita: My set will feature cover songs like “El Quereque,” “100 Años,” as well as some new songs that I’ve written.

EROCKS: How is it following the legacy of your father and grandfather?

Lupita: My father and grandfather’s legacy is massive, but I’m forming my own identity, it has been part of my story. I’m excited for people to hear my music, I have a couple of new songs and an album coming out on September 27th.

EROCKS: I was about to ask about new music, what can you tell us about new music?

Lupita: (laughs) Yeah, new music. I’ll be performing a new song during Viva La Tradicion, it’s titled “La Serenata.” You know how the story goes, a guy takes serenata to the girl, in this song I’m turning the tables, a girl is going to take serenata to the guy. I’m excited for everyone to hear it.

EROCKS: That’s amazing, I’m excited, I got goosebumps. When can we expect an album?

Lupita: Thank you, I’m excited too. Yes, I am releasing an album on September 27th, it’s titled ‘La Serenata,’ I can’t tell you much, but it’s going to make fans of my father, grandfather and my own fans very happy.

EROCKS: We’re very excited about the show, we’re already getting goosebumps just by talking about it. I need to ask, what kind of outfits can we expect?

Lupita: Yes, very exciting. Outfits will be traditional, I’ll be wearing a Mariachi suit.

EROCKS: Will you be performing with any instruments during your set?

Lupita: I play a couple of instruments, but I won’t be playing any on stage. I’ll be on stage with my mariachi and singing, it’s going to be a fun show.

EROCKS: Any collaborations with any of the artists performing at the show?

Lupita: As of now, no, but there are a lot of talented artists performing. You never know, we’ll have to wait and see.
