Latin global superstar and top charter J BALVIN kicked off Complexcon with the “Balvin Airlines Presented by Buchanan’s Whisky” pop-up.
Curated by J Balvin and Buchanan’s Scotch Whisky, Balvin Airlines was set like an airport terminal showcasing the vibrant world of the artist along with featured collections from emerging Latin designers. Check-in screens brought to life curated visuals, a conveyor belt displayed luxury leather MCM bags, and merch was available for sale throughout the day.
Together, Balvin and Buchanan’s continue to celebrate the greatness and diversity of the Latin community and the positive influence Latinos have on mainstream culture through the Es Nuestro Momento campaign.
Friends of Balvin stopped by to show their support including Pharrell Williams, and Puerto Rican trap artist, Bad Bunny, while dozens of fans lined up outside to get a glimpse and a photo of the stars inside the terminal-like pop-up shop.
J Balvin, who joins the ComplexCon’s host committee this year, surprised the audience with a performance during creative director, fashion designer, and DJ Virgil Abloh’s show in the afternoon, followed by a panel discussion where Balvin joined other ‘sneakerhead’ experts to discuss the top 10 sneakers of the year.
The “Balvin Airlines Presented by Buchanan’s Whisky” pop-up shop curated special releases for ComplexCon including an exclusive MCM passport holder hand painted by Serviced by E, a collaboration toy with artist Ron English, a debut of Kappa’s exclusive Colmillo capsule with styles handpicked by J Balvin, a collaboration hoody made for Colette with designer Esteban Cortazar and lastly a collaboration jacket with RCNSTRCT Studios.
