Jay Z Pulls Music Catalog From Spotify

Bad news Spotify users.

Jay Z has pulled his music catalog from the streaming service, the new was confirmed by Billboard.

If you go onto Spotify and search for Jay-Z, you’ll only be able to find two collaborative albums with R Kelly listed: Unfinished Business (2004) and Best of Both Worlds (2002). Plus, there are only five collaborative songs, “N—-s in Paris” ( featuring Jay), “Numb/Encore” (Linkin Park with Hova), “All the Way Up” (Fat Joe and Remy Ma ft. French MontanaNotorious B.I.G.).

According to Billboard, the removal of Jay Z’s catalog from Spotify was done, because of a request from Jay. Apparently, it’s because of TIDAL, the streaming service that Jay invested a lot of money on. TIDAL was launched in 2015 and is a competitor to Spotify, but it still hasn’t reached the popularity that Spotify has. Maybe this move to remove Jay’s catalog from Spotify will increase subscriptions for TIDAL.
