Jorge Drexler and C. Tangana team up for new collab “Tocarte.”
The song –straight, sensual, urgent– materialized in barely three minutes a strong statement of intent: to get physical contact back, something that had taken on a dangerous turn. Drexler said:
“Tocarte” is the first song that Pucho (C. Tangana) and I wrote. It just came out in a session in my studio in June 2020, together with Víctor Martínez and my son, Pablo Drexler. Pucho and I wrote the lyrics, but the one steering the helm of this ship of four was him, adding his characteristic bold brightness, frenzy and unselfishness he has when he is working. This happened over a year ago… before “Nominao”, so imagine how hard it was for us to keep the secret (it was burning in my hands!) until we felt, the whole team, that the right time has come.
C. Tangana added:
We wrote the song during the pandemic, at a time when usual interactions like giving a hug or kissing had suddenly turned into risky actions. It is an honor for me to collaborate with Jorge after his amazing contribution to my album. And I also love the fact that Víctor Martínez, who had a strong presence in “El Madrileño”, took part in the song too.
“Tocarte” comes with a delightful music video directed by Joana Colomar and produced by Zissou. The video perfectly represents the universe where this collaboration lives. Both the aesthetics and the narrative take the song to an audiovisual space of elegance, poetry, and subtlety, handing over the leading role to touch and desire. Shot in 16mm and crafted through Colomar and her team’s sophisticated approach, the result is an enticing combination.
