Kacey Musgraves releases new single and video for “justified,” from her forthcoming album star-crossed, out September 10 via Interscope /MCA Nashville/ Universal Music Canada.
The video for “justified” was directed by Bardia Zeinali and taken from star-crossed: the film, a visual companion to the album, also out September 10. The video beautifully chronicles the quiet self-reflection and setbacks of rebuilding as Musgraves learns “healing doesn’t happen in a straight line.”
star-crossed chronicles the heartbreak that resulted from Musgraves’ recent divorce, with much of its lyrics and artistic direction informed by one paradigm-shifting mushroom trip she took. If “justified” is any indication of what we can expect from Musgraves, then this will be one of the best albums of 2021.
