It was a star-studded night at the TCL Chinese Theaters in Hollywood, CA on Friday, October 1st for the premiere of Jorge Xolalpa‘s highly-anticipated new film MELANCOLíA starring Alessandra Rosaldo, Plutarco Haza, Laura Flores.
The red carpet premiere was attended by various LatinX actors, actresses, and social media influencers that showed up to support Xolalpa’s latest film. Attendees included Victoria Del Rosal, Chelsea Ramirez, Adriana Fonseca, Amy Valdez, Malili Dib, TikToker Betollllllll, film stars Alessandra Rosaldo and Plutarco Haza, and the legendary Eugenio Derbez. Latinos showed up and will continue to show up, Hollywood needs to pay more attention because Latinos are going to take over and it’s already begun!
MELANCOLíA follows a hospice nurse (Rosaldo) who takes care of terminally ill patients all while trying to move past the tragedy of having lost her daughter in a school shooting, a provocative subject that has the nation divided, but it is something that needs to be talked about. Xolalpa did a phenomenal job directing and telling a story that will resonate with the audience. Rosaldo is phenomenal, the raw emotion she exudes on screen is mesmerizing, definitely an OSCAR-worthy performance. Haza delivers a phenomenal performance as well, both Rosaldo and Haza have great onscreen chemistry.
