Austin based singer-songwriter, Liz Brennan, has released the lyric video for “Expected To Fly,” the new single off her forthcoming EP. This is what Brennan had to say about the track:

“Expected to Fly” was originally based on a original Martin Luther King Jr. quote, ‘if you can’t run, walk, if you can’t walk, crawl.’ I thought… if you can’t crawl, jump! The song is about growing up and losing friendships that you’re trying to hold on to. It is about holding onto things that make you, you.

Liz Brennan has perfected her own brand of “demented pop” that brings to mind a darker version of 80’s stars such as Blondie and Pat Benatar. Although classically trained, Liz was always drawn to the styles of rock and pop, the combination of which gives her new music a full, unique sound.

Brennan just recently wrapped up a tour with Howie Day, and is now looking forward to the release of her upcoming EP, due for release later this summer. The EP produced by Kevin Killen, best known for engineering Peter Gabriel’s “So” and Elvis Costello’s “Spike.”

Featured musicians on the new EP include: Gerry Leonard (David Bowie, Suzanne Vega); Zev Katz (Hall & Oates); Mark Copley (Rosanne Cash); Everett Bradley and Charlie Giordano (Bruce Springsteen). Brennan’s last EP, No Pants Just Dance, was co-produced by Brennan and Steve Dawson.
