Los Angeles Comic Con Hosts Gonna Need Milk’s Inaugural ‘The Milk Cup LAN Fortnite Championship’

Los Angeles Comic Con, L.A.’s largest event for comics, gaming, sci-fi, anime and pop culture, is thrilled to announce that it will host Gonna Need Milk’s inaugural The Milk Cup LAN Fortnite Championship on October 5, 2024 in the Gaming Hall. This exciting event will feature 99 of the best women gamers competing for their share of $250,000, the largest women’s esports prize pool in North American history.

Created by Gonna Need Milk, The Milk Cup is set to make history in the world of esports, providing a vital platform for the next generation of women gamers to showcase their incredible talent. The championship will be broadcast live on the gaming stage, with participants taking over the entirety of the Freeplay zone in the West Hall. Matches and highlighted gameplay will be streamed via IGN, competitors will engage in a build trios tournament format, scored by a combination of placement points and team eliminations across six matches, promising intense and thrilling gameplay.

Gonna Need Milk envisioned The Milk Cup in dedication to supporting women in esports. The creation of the tournament aims to address the underrepresentation of women in professional gaming.

Jennifer Grubb, Senior Marketing Manager at MilkPEP said:

Women make up nearly half of the gaming community, yet they represent only a small fraction of professional gamers.

The Milk Cup is our way of changing that narrative by offering new and inclusive opportunities that support women in esports. Beyond the event, dairy milk provides essential nutrients to support gamers, like high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamins B12 and D, crucial for brain health, focus, and sustained energy.

For young gamers eager to catch the excitement, Los Angeles Comic Con is selling a special Milk Teen Ticket for fans ages 13-17, who can now cheer on their favorite players of the tournament in person with a Milk-sponsored ticket, starting at $30. This initiative makes the event more accessible to younger fans, inspiring the next generation of gamers and comic enthusiasts to experience the magic of Comic Con firsthand.

If fans of any age can’t attend in person, the championship will also be live-streamed on Twitch for a global audience, ensuring that every fan from around the world has an opportunity to join in the excitement.
