Maya Zapata, Elyfer Torres and Katherine Castro Set To Star In Xolalpa’s Immigration Thriller “HUEHXOLOTL”

Mighty Aphrodite Pictures has confirmed Maya Zapata (Under The Same Moon), Elyfer Torres (Betty In NY) and Katherine Castro (Lolita) have been set to star in Xolalpa’s eight indie film Huehxolotl.

The plot centers around Xochit (Zapata), an undocumented woman who is followed and cornered by undercover ICE agents. Torres plays Xochitl’s sister Nayely who ends up taking care of her nephew after Xochitl is deported. Castro is the antagonistic ICE agent who shows no mercy toward’s Xochitl’s case. Huehxolotl is being produced by Xolalpa and Alfredo Widman at Mighty Aphrodite Pictures and finance by NYTA Film Group.

Zapata was most recently seen in Amazon’s Every Minute Counts and Sundance’s Under The Same Moon. Torres is known for her performance in Netflix’s The War Next Door and Telemundo’s Betty In NY. Castro most recently worked with Xolalpa in their upcoming film Lolita. The prolific filmmaker (Xolalpa) will be returning to set after the successful release of his Amazon series Strangelove which is also set to begin shooting its second season this Summer along with Huehxolotl.

Zapata is repped by Talent On The Road. Torres is repped by De Paz Management. Castro is repped by Crawford Talents. Xolalpa is repped by Palomera Group.
