Singer-songwriter and visual artist Mon Laferte recently released her new album, Autopoiética, the follow-up to GRAMMY-nominated 1940 Carmen, and featured on the album is new single “Obra de Dios.”
“Obra de Dios” is a mesmerizing single that marries the ethereal vibes of trip-hop with a powerful message of self-acceptance and the intricate beauty of life’s dualities. The song, rich in hypnotic rhythms and profound lyrics, invites listeners on an introspective journey to embrace every aspect of their existence, highlighting the notion that each person is a miraculous “work of God.”
“Obra de Dios”, produced by the artist herself and Manu Jalil, also marks a new stage for Mon, she said:
This is my first independent release after several years with a very large company. I want to express myself, I’m independent, I made this song and I want to show it to the world.
The music video for the song was directed by Chilean filmmaker Camila Grandi and recorded in Berlin, in such cinematic and retro-futuristic spaces as the Internationales Congress Centrum (ICC) and the Messedamm underpass.
