Professional skateboarder Nyjah Huston, deemed “The X-Factor” as the sole pro-skater who will change the course of the sport over the next decade, has joined forces with the development team at PLAYSK8 to infuse skateboard culture into the metaverse.
Launched in February and based in Los Angeles, PLAYSK8 is an NFT-based video game in which players compete in a SK8 game and buyers can mint directly from the website until all NFTs are sold. The collection has already taken off by teaming up with NFT market behemoth, OpenSea, and Venice Beach graffiti icon, Can’t Be Stopped (CBS). The collection boasts the most extensive library of design assets ever distributed in an NFT, with 10,000 unique NFTs consisting of 300,000 tricks and trick variation animations.
CEO and Cofounder, Alex Dahan (Forbes 30 Under 30), says they have partnered with ReadyPlayerDAO to develop a virtual skate park on the leading metaverse development platform SANDBOX. Currently, users play against each other on PLAYSK8’s Discord server and can earn tokens to strengthen their avatar and buy virtual gear like hats, shoes, and new skate decks.
