Palomera Group lead by Alejandra Palomera is teaming up with Jorge Xolalpa and his Mighty Aphrodite Pictures production banner to bring best-selling novelist Maria De Lourdes Victoria’s ‘La Casa De Los Secretos’ (The House of Secrets) to the silver screen.
Centered in Oaxaca, Mexico: The House of Secrets weaves together two parallel love stories separated by a generation. The story of Cienne, an Irish nun who arrives in Mexico after fleeing The Great Famine of 1847 in Ireland and Patricia’s story which takes place in Oaxaca after the tumultuous years of The Mexican Revolution. Through conversations and stories told by Cienne, Patricia discovers the mystery of her identity and a secret that holds two generation of women together.
Mighty Aphrodite Pictures has proved good at identifying and acquiring tastemaker material centered on Latinx stories. Having produced award-winning films like Valentina, Your Iron Lady and now expected to release their most recent film LOLITA starring Alexis Vazquez, Johnny Ortiz, Plutarco Haza, Katharine Castro and Eric Roberts.
Xolalpa is currently in production of his first episodic project titled STRANGELOVE, a queer comedy centered in the heart of Los Angeles starring Alexis Vazquez, Raury Rolander, Brandon Baez and Edgar Segura scheduled to premiere this coming fall on Amazon Prime.
The team is packaging up the project and plan to take it to the marketplace this year. Xolalpa and Alejandra Palomera will serve as executive producers with the support of Alex Flores at Mojo Global Arts. Maria De Lourdes Victoria will adapt the novel.
