Global artist Ricky Martin has just released a new version of his classic “Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Día,” with the most influential artist of regional Mexican music, Christian Nodal.
The new version of “Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Día,” produced by maestro Julio Reyes Copello, reminds us that when great talents come together to interpret a heartfelt and pure message accompanied by impeccable instrumentation, we only need to listen and let the feelings that the song brings sail through our hearts.
On how the idea of re-recording one of his audience’s favorite songs came about, Ricky said:
Since I started the symphonic concerts, I realized that this song has a beautiful story and connects with so many people. That’s when it occurred to me to re-record it. Still, this time with classical sounds with the help of the great producer, maestro Julio Reyes Copello, who in one way or another has marked critical moments in my career, and I knew that he would transform the song while permanently preserving its magic. At the same time, I wanted to join forces, generations, and cultures and create an explosion because this song lends itself to that. That’s when Christian Nodal, doing an excellent job in music, comes in. You can tell he studied the song and left his soul behind the microphone. I think the public will realize that he brought all his ancestors to this production; he gave it his all, and when I heard it for the first time, my heart skipped a beat, I got a lump in my throat, and I felt very comfortable working with him, thanks, brother.
For his part, Nodal said:
This collaboration with the great Ricky Martin means a lot to me. I had long wanted to do something with Ricky, so when I received the proposal, it was, in advance, a dream fulfilled. Besides, this song, ‘Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Día,’ is an important part of my growing up. Those first “despechos” (heartaches) are set to music by Ricky, which is very cool. This song was already perfect, but hearing it with the Mariachis will steal your soul like it did mine. My challenge was even more significant: to live up to Ricky Martin and honor my Mexican roots. I am thrilled and proud of the work we did together, of the friendship that was born from art and admiration. This duet, I promise you, with all humility, will make history. I hope you like it and enjoy it as much as we do. Ricky, thank you for trusting me to be your musical brother. I love you all.
The new version is immortalized in a music video directed by the renowned Carlos Pérez, creative director ofElastic People, and filmed two weeks ago in the port of Miami.
“Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Día” was initially released in 1996 and is part of the successful album “A Medio Vivir” (1996). The song was composed by K.C. Porter and co-written by Luis Gómez Escolar and Draco Rosa. The production was in charge of K.C. Porter with the co-production of Draco Rosa. Twenty-seven years later, it is still one of the most applauded songs in Ricky’s live concerts.
