Latin pop brother duo Río Roma releases “Por Ella Tomo,” the latest preview of their upcoming EP 6 Canciones y 1 Tequila. This track is a collaboration with the corrido icon Gerardo Ortíz.
José Luis Roma, co-founder of Río Roma, is thrilled to be joined by Gerardo Ortíz said:
Ever since we put together our wish list for 6 Canciones y 1 Tequila, we were highly intrigued by the possibility of getting Gerardo Ortíz. We had met briefly at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City; we got along swimmingly and that’s why we are very happy that he accepted our invitation for the most cry-in-your-beer song that we have ever recorded.
Turning to the song’s composition, José Luis notes with a chuckle:
‘Por Ella Tomo’ is a true story that Geovani Cabrera and I turned into a song. Río Roma always strives to record songs that you can identify with, and I think this story was just begging for a voice with Gerardo’s qualities.
Gerardo added:
This song was meant to be sung with abandon. As José Luis points out, it’s about a bro who is proud to be suffering and sings it like it, without regret.
