Dolly Parton is heading to Netflix, well, Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute will be available to stream on April 7th on Netflix. In 2019, Parton was honored as MusiCares “Person of the Year” at the organization’s annual fundraising gala and tribute concert.
MusiCares helps the humans behind music because music gives so much to the world. Offering preventive, emergency, and recovery programs, MusiCares is a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community. Founded by the Recording Academy in 1989 as a U.S.-based, independent 501(c)(3) charity, MusiCares safeguards the well-being of all music people through direct financial grant programs, networks of support resources, and tailored crisis relief efforts.
The star-studded event is not open to the public, it’s invite-only now we can all watch and celebrate Dolly Parton. The performers featured for Parton’s tribute included Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Shawn Mendes, Brandi Carlile, Katy Perry, Jennifer Nettles, Yolanda Adams, Leon Bridges, Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town.
Parton was the first country music artist to be honored by MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy. This is the first time that we will be able to watch a MusiCares tribute, the event has been filmed every year that takes place, but this will be the first time it’ll be available to view on Netflix. Hopefully, there’s a big audience watching and more MusiCares tributes are released. Past MusiCares “Person of The Year” honorees include Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, Barbara Streisand, Bruce Springsteen.
