Watch C. TANGANA’s NPR “TINY DESK (HOME) CONCERT”

Spanish star C. Tangana has released his very own NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, filmed in his hometown of Madrid, alongside the debut of a previously unreleased song “Me Maten” featuring flamenco fusion artist Antonio Carmona. The taping is the first live performance of Tangana’s breakthrough album ‘El Madrileño.’

In his “Tiny Desk,” C. Tangana filmed a musical trip that captures the universe of ‘El Madrileño‘ with his contemporary vision of Spanish culture and tradition. It is a late afternoon performance in a Madrid living room with the improvised energy of a family and friend gathering.

C. Tangana is joined by his regular collaborators Alizzz and Victor Martinez, his mother Patri and aunt Pilar plus friends and collaborators. Additional performers include rumba legend Kiko Veneno, flamenco-pop icon La Húngara and avant-garde cantaor Niño de Elche.

It was filmed at Casa Carvajal, a historic Brutalist house that was the primary setting for the “Comerte Entera” music video. On the home’s walls are the original oil paintings for the “Tú Me Dejaste de Querer” and “Demasiadas Mujeres” singles. The “Demasiadas Mujeres” performance with a string octet reflects Tangana’s essence, the closest reference to his rap roots in the taping. In the middle of “Los Tontos” is a new re-interpretation of the New Order classic “Bizarre Love Triangle.”

The “Tiny Desk” video was directed by Santos Bacana and produced by Little Spain, the same creative team behind all the visual content and direction for the ‘El Madrileño‘ project.
